Today is Christmas Day, the day we celebrate that God became a man, Emmanuel, i.e. God with us. Take your own Bible and hunt down Philippians 2:5-7 where Paul tells us – God’s motivation to do such a vulgar thing. For the thrice holy God to even simply look down on the things in heaven and earth that have been corrupted and contaminated by Satan’s sin requires the Holy God of Heaven to humble Himself. Various translations use different words in Psalm 113:6 to describe that, but the original Hebrew word means that He has to debase and humiliate Himself to even look at and consider His own creation because it is so unholy and contaminated with sin.
For the Holy God, omnipotent (all-powerful), omniscient (all-knowing), omnipresent (everywhere present all the time), eternal (having no limits, no beginning, no end) to then debase and humiliate Himself even more to take on the form of a man, even a helpless, vulnerable baby is a vulgarity, the kind of crudeness that no one could ever expect from the One Who is High and Exalted above all else. But He did it for you and for me, Praise His Holy Name!!!! Philippians 2:8 goes on to tell us that He took it so far as to die on a cross. There is so much meaning in those few words. He took the curse of our sin upon Himself to redeem (purchase) us from the curse of sin. (Galatians 3:13) Oh glorious day!!!
And that is the reason He was born 2,000 years ago. That reason was so that He Himself could do for us what we could not do for ourselves – make peace with God for us. That’s what reconciliation means.(2 Corinthians 5:18-21) And that reconciliation allows us to have what Jesus of Nazareth, the God-Man, defined as eternal life in John 17:3.
So, today, this Christmas Day, spend some time with your Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit of Christ that He has made to live in us and seal us for all eternity for His own purposes.
Rejoice, Celebrate, Party, Commemorate, Delight yourself in Him, Spend intimate time with Him to exalt Him on this day that He gave Himself to us in humility and shame, but also in joy and power, and triumph. Finally, worship Christ the King and attribute to Him all that He deserves. You’ll find that in Revelation 5:12 –
12 … “Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!”
Today give Him what He deserves!!!!
And go find someone, anyone to tell about what He has done!!!
Today, tomorrow, sometime, anytime, all the time!!!!!
And I recommend that you do it at a truck stop near you. There are men and women working today, driving a truck. Take them a Christmas celebration.
