Of all the character traits of God, the one that outshines the rest is Love. This is what drove Him to send His Son to die for our sins. Yes, Drivers, it was and still is His great LOVE for mankind, for each and every one of us. So, if we are to be like Jesus and we are, we must “Love one another” which was one of the main themes of the last message the Lord Jesus gave to His disciples in the upper room and later on the way to the Garden of Gethsemane the night before the Cross!
--Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13
--Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us. I John 3:16
--The love of Christ, which passes knowledge. Ephesians 3:19
--Ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye
through His poverty might be rich. II Corinthians 8:9
--This is My Commandment, that ye love one another as I have loved you. John 15:12
--Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. I John 4:11
--Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
--Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. Colossians 3:13
--For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give His life a ransom for many. Mark 10:45
--Christ . . . suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps. I Peter 2:21
--We ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. I John 3:16
--These things I command you; that ye love one another. John 15:17
It was while reading the Gospel of John that the Lord showed me His great love John 15:13 for my soul and I repented, receiving Him by faith and was born again. Changed forever, transformed in one moment of time as the Lord with His Holy Spirit came into my heart and gave me a hunger for the Word of God and delivered me from my sins: Alcohol addiction, drug abuse and an immoral lifestyle were all taken away when He made me a new person in Christ.
And, just as I was born physically in one moment of time December 31, 1944, so too, when I was born Spiritually it also happened in one moment in time on March 7, 1980. This is exactly how the Lord Jesus described the born again experience when He told a very religious Jew named Nicodemus: “That which is born of the flesh [physical birth] is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit [Spiritual birth] is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto ye must be born again” (John 3:6, 7). Every person that is born physically here below must be born from above in order to enter God’s Kingdom!
Then Jesus gave Him the most quoted verse in Scripture on God’s love: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). John described the process when he wrote this in the Epistle of I John: “Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be a propitiation for our sin.” (I John 4:10) The word “propitiation” simply means Jesus supplied His Father what was necessary for Him to forgive our sin by shedding His Blood on the Cross! Praise Him!!
